I'm a big fan of Guy's show on the Food Network. I have a gourmet kitchen in my home and my wife and I do lot of entertaining. Generally, the kitchen is the focal point, so we are constantly searching for new recipes to "test" on our guests. Guy's book is a pleasant, but expected surprise. As cookbooks go, if I find one recipe that's a "keeper",then I consider it a good investment. This book is off the charts, and well worth the price paid. Can't wait for the next one.

I want to visit all the places in the book!

I love the show and this book is great. I'm hoping a second one will come out to include places not in the first. Guy is a wonderful host and truly seems to enjoy what he does. I like that there are recipes included along with the information about the different facilities. I was very glad when this book came out because there are places I want to visit after seeing them on the show but I kept forgetting to write down the names and locations, so this was perfect for me. Keep up the great show.

The writing is concise, interesting and fun. My only disappointment is that a lot of the recipes are not the signature dish written about in the restaurant review.

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Recipe Book

March 21, 2009

I was disappointed in the recipes that were in the book. I thought they would be a little more user friendly but there were so many that I would never try or needed items that were hard to find. I did try the a meat loaf recipe and it was not bad but I know that I can make a better meat loaf than that. I will try another Diners, Drive-In & Dives book but I will buy it froma store where I can look at it first. LOVE_LOVE_LOVE Guy and all of his shows. Paula and Guy are the best on Food Network. I like shows that have "normal" recipes.

Most of these recipes are those I would not use. I have seen many on the TV show that I would rather have.

Great read - need a new Edition
by Sarah, UT
August 25, 2009

This is a great book for the "triple D" fan. It has featured recipes from some of the favorite stops on Diners, Drive-In's and Dives and includes the listing and addresses for all locations visited by Guy and his team. The only complaint? We need a new edition with all of the NEW places he has visited in the past two seasons.

Disappointment
by Donna, KS
January 22, 2009

I was very disappointed in the recipes in the book. I thought there would be more recipes in the book of food that we see on the TV show. I don't think of the recipes in the book as the typical dinner food. We usually see dozens of different burgers, sandwiches, ways of preparing rings, frys and so so much more. Breakfast types of meals. Ways of smoking meats. Too much to mention. If you like the type of food in the book, it probably is a good value. The book is just not what I was expecting. But we DO LOVE GUY!!!!

I was disappointed in a lot of the recipe choices from the diners; they were generally not one of the featured items on the show. However, I did like having the listing of the locations so that when we do go to a featured city, we know what to expect.

I love the show. The book is good, but I expected a little more than black/white pages. I was expecting color and flair...like Guy!

More recipes
by Karen, OK
September 2, 2009

I would like to have seen more recipes. There were recipes that I had seen on the show that were not in the book and I was very disappointed that they were not included. If Guy should write another book I do wish he would consider putting more recipes from Triple D. Love all his shows.

I Was A Little Disappointed........
by Michelle, WV
January 6, 2009

I really was thrilled with the cookbook as I am an avid watcher of the program, and I loved reading about the history, anecdotes, etc. However when it comes down to recipes, I was disappointed that there weren't more. Also, I am not a fan of hot, spicy cooking and so many of the recipes in this cookbook are just that, so I am able to use only a handful that I know my family will like. Overall though, it's an entertaining read and I definitely will buy the next volume.

A fun read

Book is fun to read, humorous. Although you must be an avid fan of the show to know what Guy is talking about in the book much of the time. His words aren't "prettied up", how he says it is how it's written down! Some great recipes I can't wait to try. I just wish ALL the places he'd visited were featured in the book, there's a couple recipes I'd like that aren't in there!

We went to 2 places in the book, Triple X & Gizzard City, & they both were awesome. It was fun to visit somewhere that you saw on TV.

My wife has a whole cupbard full of cookbooks, but she is always looking for something new. She watches diners drive-ins and dives every time it is on and she is really enjoying the cookbook. I know, I am the person she tries the recipies out on and I don't pass up any of them. Larry and Dora Christensen from Wyoming

Love the book. Fortunately it is readable in spite of the fact it arrived damp and damaged. The packing material was disgusting...it literally turned to powder in my hands.
