A big cake stand, but not great

This cake stand is big enough to handle large and tall frosted cakes, and I like it because of that.

However, I don't like the plastic cover, which while sturdy, is not particularly attractive.

Anyway, for the money, it's a bargain that suited my need for a larger than average stand.

What drove me to search for an item like this was memories of my mother making a cake once a week for us kids and it would sit on the counter on her cake stand. I now make a cake a week for my son (lucky kid, I had to share with 3 other siblings, he only has to fight over this with his dad). It's perfect!

Just what I needed. Nice retro look, good size, well-made and lightweight. I was looking for a plastic (acrylic) lid, as I didn't want to have to lift a heavy glass lid like on other models I found while searching (nor did I want to have to worry about my kids trying to lift it and dropping it). Still looking for a cake plate to use on top of the stand so I don't actually cut cake slices on the stand itself.

Enjoy the diner look of the cake stand. have already had compliments on it. the guality seems to be in line with the price. i don't think i'll have any trouble with a taller cake fitting under the cover, there seems to be plenty of room. now all i have to do is bake one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

Before adding eggs to your muffin, cookie or cake recipe, lightly beat them to incorporate the yolks and the whites. If you take care of this part before adding them to your other ingredients, you'll run less chance of over-mixing and thus creating gluten, which makes baked goods tough and chewy instead of moist and tender.
