This wasn't quite what I expected (I think I envisioned a covered skillet), but it is the only pan I have now with a glass lid and I enjoy the ability to see how what I'm cooking is doing. I do think that the price of items in the Food Network store is generally too high. I bought this because I had been given a gift certificate. I won't shop the Food Network store again because of the prices...however, I am and will continue to be a loyal Food Network viewer.
I love Calphalon. I will buy no other brand
A very good "saucier" type sauce pan. Heavy enough to handle all cream and roux based sauces. The size, (two quarts) is ideal for the home kitchen. Overall, satisfied with the quality, price, and Cooking.com service.
I was a little hesitant to buy a pan without non-stick coating, but no worries! The first thing I cooked in it was pasta sauce and it cleaned up like new with hardly any effort. I really am impressed.
I don't usually write online reviews but I will this time as I hear that this great little saucier is going out of production. That's too bad as it is just perfect for making sauces; the rounded shape lets you easily whisk all your sauce to smoothness--no burnt missed spots; it is the right size for most family needs; and since the handle has been redesigned it is stable, no more tipping. I had an earlier version and just loved it except that the then too heavy handle unbalanced the pan which dangerously tipped. Still I thought it a good enough pan that I took a chance on getting the redesigned one and am very glad I got it. I think it is now a well designed product, and quite a useful addition to a home cook's pan selection.
