All Clad is known for its superb quality in cookware and this 7-qt. pasta pentola with insert demonstrates why. It marries form and function by combining the excellent heat conductivity of copper with the beauty of stainless steel. Crafted in a unique five-ply construction, the cookware contains a core of pure copper that spreads heat quickly and evenly across the bottoms of pots and pans and all the way up the sides. With the colander inserted, it's ideal for cooking and quickly draining pasta or vegetables. Without the colander, it's a classic tall and narrow pot for simmering stocks, soups, and chili. Handwash, as dishwasher-use will deteriorate the pan's exterior beauty.

Great All-clad pot

7 qts. Great for two, Compatible with all cooking methods including Induction. Looks great if that is your decision point. 7qts,in Copper Core or D5 <9", is smaller in diameter than the smaller 6qt, or larger 8qt, and deeper. I prefer the deeper profile so that I can minimize boilover. GREAT value especially with the Lasagna pan and gloves/book Xtras

Anyone who buys the Copper Core line of All Clad should never complain about the cost since it is a known fact that the price is NOT why you buy this particular product. It is a given fact the Copper Core line is overpriced for the casual chef since other All Clad products are exceptional and may perform equally well. However, one complaint about this product is the fact it does take a long time to heat the water compared to the stockpot. I will mention that I am one of the few who cooks with electric so I cannot comment on gas cooking or the time it takes to heat the water which I am sure is less. I live in an area where natural gas is not an option. The strainer is the best part of the product but it can be cumbersome at times. Do not think this will replace a steamer for other items such as vegetables. For that purpose, I recommend the universal steamer.

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

Tomato paste adds rich, hearty flavor to soups and stews. Buy it in tubes instead of cans so you can use what you need, then store the rest in the fridge for the next time you need it.
