For home cooks--from skittish to seasoned--and the millions of viewers who have watched her career bloom on Food Network, first as Mario Batali's sous chef on Iron Chef America and now with two hit shows, Secrets of a Restaurant and Worst Cooks in America, Anne Burrell presents her long-awaited debut cookbook, including 125 recipes, all infused with the sassy personality Anne's fans have come to love.
Anne believes that food is essential to happiness. While she is a professional by training and pedigree, the food she makes isn't froufrou; it's spirited and infused with the bold flavors and passion that are her signature--or, as she likes to say, food that includes the "sparkle factor." As on TV, Anne's debut cookbook will give home cooks the confidence and support they need to be rock stars in their own kitchens and to create food inspired by Anne's life in restaurant kitchens--but designed for everyone from beginners to experts.
First, I want it clear that I love Anne Burrell and her recipes. I purchased this book for my daughter who enjoys Annes down to earth approach to cooking. I purchased it because it was supposed to be signed by Anne. Putting a sticker in the book with her signature for me to peel and put on a page is NOT what I call a "signed copy". Alton Brown actually signed his books as well as others like Charlie Trotter. I am returning the book because I believe you misrepresented selling a "signed copy". I understand how it is easier to sign stickers than actual books but she's no different than other chefs and this was her first book!!!!
I believe FoodNetwork misrepresented the book being signed by author. The book is NOT signed by the author but a piece of paper signed by author is put between the pages of the book. Next time be truthful about an enclosed signature. The cookbook itself is very good- don't promise what you are not delivering.
I can see that this book might be useful to some folks, but far too many of the recipes are based on shellfish and/or pork products. I do not cook with either, so I consider this one of my less useful purchases. Also, it assumes one has a kitchen full of every known spice and condiment and with a variety of cookware. This limits its usefulness to the average cook. I am disappointed with this purchase and would recomment it only for those with lots of extra money to spend.
Although Anne's cookbook is great, and nothing wrong with the transaction, $35.00 for the book via food tv, on sale at amazon for 20 bucks !
my daughter wants to be a chef-so to have terminology and explanation is great. we also love the feeling she creates-love what you do and have fun with it. having the recipes written in "prep" then "cook" is a time-saver (working mom here). my daughter is hoping to study (after culinary school) with greats like Anne, Mario, Ina & Guy. Keep the spark alive-make cooking fun. You Rock Anne!!!
