When this first came, I was a little disappointed as I thought the pan felt light and maybe wouldn't hold up. So far, I have used it for soup and canning (salsa and stewed tomatoes) and it works well. When I ordered it I thought the base was 12 inches, but it actually requires a 9 inch burner (I have a glass cooktop). The lid sits well and doesn't rattle. It washes up just like other stainless steel cookwear.

    6.5 qt stainless soup pot
    by Brooke, WI

I love this pan!! It's just enough bigger that a regular dutch oven so big amounts of soup don't boil over. Looks great ,cleans up well.I searched the internet looking for this pan for a long time.

Brown that soup meat and simmer!
    by Michael, KY

I needed a pot that I could get a nice browning on meat for making soups. This pot has performed great and has already turned out some delicious meals. This pot not only performs well but looks great too!

I love Calphalon. I particularly love the glass lids - no more mystery about what's going on in the pot (contrary to popular opinion, watched pots *do* boil).
This one replaces a Calphalon non-stick pot which, thanks to those in the household who just must use metal utensils, was pretty well scraped up.

This is a beauty. Generously sized and perfect for cooking enough pasta for a 4 - 6 person gang, or to make enough soup, stew or chili to feed 6 to 8, it heats evenly, cleans up like a dream and if you do manage to stain it, grab the Barkeepers Helper. Voila! Shiny and stain-free as new.

This line from Calphalon is really striking, heats up and cools down quickly, cooks very effectively, and cleans up fairly easily.

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

When you're making a hearty stew, pick cuts of meat that'll do best with long, slow cooking. You'll want a piece of meat that will stand up to being on the stove for a long time, so don't pick anything too lean. One of the best (and most wallet-friendly) cuts for stew is chuck - with time and low heat, the muscles in it turn tender and tasty. Brown the meat in batches to get the best possible sear, and then start the stew.
