Love it. Makes preparing pasta a breeze.
Tapered design protects non-stick pot from rubbing. Fits well and can be cleaned in dishwasher (though cleaned easily by hand after pasta preparation). However, $75 is too steep and would not have made this purchase if it weren't a 'dedicated' gift for making soup & stock.
This piece fits right inside my 8-quart pot and it makes cooking pasta a breeze. Had it for a few weeks, love it, also very easy to clean
We received the 11 pc. set of Contemporary cookware as a Christmas present. We have been delighted by the quality and utility of our cookware from day one, and fully expect this may be the last cookware we ever buy. We decided to complete our cookware collection by purchasing a few additional items that weren't included in our set. Knowing what our set cost, we were surprised at the high cost of individual items. We were fortunate to get the square grill pan and the 5 qt. saucier on sale in local stores, but we had to purchase the pasta insert on line. In comparing the prices of the cookware we found great disparity between the list price of these items and the sale prices we found in the stores. Even on line we saw competitive sale prices on some individual items, but there appeared to be no consistency in pricing. We love our cookware and might buy some additional pieces if we can find them on sale, but we won't be buying any more items on line at those list prices. I think a better marketing strategy for your on line sales would be to offer some across the board sales such as 25% or 40% off individual pieces.
When I bought the original set about 3 years ago, as a bonus the store added a large pasta pot with insert as free gift. I never liked it because it didn't match the contemporary set I bought. So the purpose of buying the insert was to have it match my set.
Resist the temptation to add oil to your pasta cooking water. Sure, it'll prevent the pasta from sticking together, but it also means that your sauce won't stick to it either! If you're worried about pasta sticking together, just be sure to stir it occasionally while it cooks.
