I have always enjoyed steamed, fresh vegetables. However, I had been looking for something I could also use for steaming hamburger buns, freshening bread, steaming larger items such as potatoes and even warming up left over meats. This works beautifully because it does not dry out the meat, in fact it restores and wakes up the juices.

    Great Steamer

This is a great choice for a pot that doesn't normally come in a set. For one thing, it's a nice size - 3 quarts. That gives you a good size steamer, which allows you to steam broccoli, a vegetable which takes up a lot of room. Also, the holes in the bottom are a large size, about 1/4 inch wide. This makes it much easier to rinse off the veggies before and after and allow quick drainage. The steamer pot can pinch-hit as a colander because of those holes.

Grab one of these. You won't regret it.

    Stack and Steam Set

This steamer is up to the same excellent quality of my other Farberware. I bought my first Farberware cookware in the '70s. I used it every day and was totally satisfied. My only complaint ocurred when the pots were old and the screws in some of the handles loosened each time I used the pots. I see that the new pots have rivets, which is great. One thing I do not like about this new steamer is the bottom has about a half-inch piece welded to it. This means if I ever use any grease (oil, butter, bacon grease), that welding seam will accumulate burned on grease, and I'll not be able to clean it. Bad idea. Most of the new, expensive cookware have these same bottoms. No woman would ever design pots and pans that cannot be kept spotlessly clean!

Steaming helps preserve the health benefits of your food because unlike boiling, the nutrients aren't removed in the cooking water. The gentle heat of steaming locks them in while cooking foods through.
