When a more common 6- or 8-in. Chef's knife seems a little too large or unwieldy for your prep needs, reach for this Wusthof 4.5-in. Cook's knife. Fits perfectly in a smaller palm and packs all the cutting power and precision you need for dicing and slicing smaller vegetables and seafood. Part of the Classic series, this knife, made in Solingen, Germany, is hand-forged in 38 manufacturing steps by skilled craftsmen. The high-carbon stainless steel blades are hardened to maintain a sharp edge and full tangs provide perfect balance with riveted, high-impact composition handles.

Wusthof's newest state of the art technology incorporates a new computer controlled method for putting the edge on Classic knives. This technology allows for an exacting edge from the tip of the knife down to the heel of the knife. With this newer precision, the knives are made sharper to 14 degrees per side for a total of 28 degrees. The knives are now sharper and this refinement increases the sharpness retention because exacting angles and edges last longer than edges sharpened by hand. The result is a knife that is 30% sharper and the ICP (Initial Cutting Performance) lasts twice as long.

by Ronald, AR

I have had one of these fine knives for several years and I recently purchased one for my son who is a professional chef. When he visits our home and does any work in the kitchen I will invariably find this knife among the dirty or recently washed dishes. As in my case it is one of the first knives he reaches for. He is used to using 8

Since I have small hands, I was looking for a knife that would fit them comfortably when chopping veggies, garlic, onions, etc. and this knife fit perfectly. The balance is excellent, plus the price was great since it was on sale. I'm considering another one for my sister.

A gift for my sister, who adores it. Afraid of large knives, it's the perfect size for her. Sharp, and is weighted perfectly.

The perfect knife!
by Kerza, TX

This is a great knife for most jobs. Small enough to handle easily, but has a very substantial feel. My favorite knife!

This was a gift for my sister who has only one hand and cannot use a standard size chef's knife. When I saw this knife i thought it would be perfect for her. She absolutely loves this knife as it allows her to more uniformly slice and chop.

Here's a trick to remember the next time you're cooking with something leafy like cilantro: to quickly separate the leaves from the stems, hold the stems in one hand and shave the leaves off with a super-sharp chef's knife.
