BBQ Thermometer (6-in.) by Maverick

I got this item after reviews I had read. It lives up to the reviews. It is a must have item in the artillery for perfect low and slow roasted items on the grill. I mean, who wants to keep running outside to check the temp of the grill or the meat on the grill. With this, you can sit in the cool house and relax, checking those things on the remote. I did an overnight cook using this, and set the temp alarms, which worked wonderful. I wasn't happy about getting up in the middle of the night to tend the fire, but it saved the cook, and it turned out perfect. It's much more sensitive to cooking temp then the thermometer mounted on the grill. I will be using this in conjunction with my new "auto temp controller" and be able to sleep through the night on my next roast. Well worth the money. I wrap each wire with aluminum foil to save clean up after use. Buy one, they're great!

I now have the freedom to move around and prep other items during the cooking process and not be running back and forth outside checking on the smoker or loosing heat by opening it to check the temperature.

The only reason I did not give this product a high rating is because the directions are not detailed enough on how to lower the temp. readings. Perhaps I just can't understand the directions but my husband also had trouble with the settings. I think once we get use to using it we will like it more in the future. Right now I would not recommend it to my friends because I cannot help them set it. It is hard to understand how to set it but it does work great once you get it set.
