I've only used the mixer twice and I'm just getting used to it. So far I find it cumbersome and difficult to operate. Overall, I think I prefer my Sunbeam hand mixer. Both times I've used the mixer, it vibrated noticeably and seemed to struggle to mix a batch of chocolate chip cookie dough.
Makes a bit of a humming sound when beating. Not sure whether this is normal - I wouldn't think so.
I am a baker more than a cook. Always making cakes and cookies.
I LOVE COOKING.COM. I DON'T HOLD YOU RESPONSABLE FOR THE LACK OF QUALITY THAT KITCHENAID NOW PUTS INTO THEIR MIXERS.
IN THE PAST IT WAS THE BEST, AND LASTED APPROX. 20 YEARS, AND CARRIED A LIFETIME GUARANTEE. NOW THEY ARE JUST NOT THE SAME QUALITY. I HAVE LET KITCHENAID KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS. I HAVE NO CHOICE, BECAUSE I HAVE 5 BOWLS, AND FOUR BEATERS. THAT IS WHY I KEEP USING THIS MIXER.
I DECORATE CAKES, AND USE THIS PRODUCT FOR ICINGS, AND CAKE MIXES.
I love Kitchenaid Mixers, but this new one is already starting to sound like it's struggling after just a few weeks use (granted, it was heavy use, but my old Kitchenaid has lasted 20+ years!
This one has issues.
difficult to work with the dough/batter while running -- miss the old Sunbeam for that. Powerful which is good, huge in size which is not good. Necessary for the large dough for communion bread recipes I am doing. Did not like the cookbook/directions because they didn't really help you use the mixer. I have made bread, cookies, a nut bread, and a cake but had to adapt, without feeling I had any control, my old recipies. When I used the recipes from your book, I didn't feel like they matched the speeds you suggested in the front of the book.
All of my life I have wanted to purchase a good Kitchen Aid mixer. I have even purchased them for my Daughters as they have started their own families but never could get off my wallet to buy myself one. I finally purchased one and have been so glad I did! I have made breads, muffins, cupcakes, cakes, ground meats, and pastas with it and have really enjoyed using this mixer with attachments. It is somewhat large for my kitchen counters but it has been such a pleasure to use that the size is easy to forgive.
I love the speeds on this mixer. I have only owned 1 other stand mixer before but this one is the berries! Clean up is very easy which is a real plus. The only negative thing is the weight of the mixer. I just haven't found the one spot to leave it yet so I have to move it around and it is heavy. I am sure this will be the only mixer I will ever use even though I still have a hand mixer. I also loved the fact that some of the $ went to a good cause.
The mixer is everything I expected. Havn't tried it out yet. Can't wait.
I wish I hadn't talked myself out of buying this mixer years ago. I enjoy cooking so much and I am looking forward to doing my holiday recipes now.
I love it so far. I did not like the splash shield. It was in the way more than it was useful.
It's a classice... a kitchen staple.
I can't wait to bake Christmas cookies this year.
Have always wanted a stand mixer and it truly lived up to my expectations. Easy, to work, easy to add ingredients, easy to mount, dismount, switch blades. Very smooth operation. My only grump is that it is difficult to clean the blades, but a certain amount of that is to be expected.
I was replacing an old model of the same mixer-25 years old! I am enjoying the newer model's features-handle on the bowl, feed guard, etc. All in all, I find that the mixer and its capabilities to be very similar to my old model that I passed on to a friend since it was still working very well.
This is my second KitchenAid mixer. The first one was the cheapest they sell and purchased at Walmart. After a year, lubricant started to leak out around the band where the product name is located. After contacting KitchenAid we decided to dispose of the mixer because of the shipping cost to send it back and the cost to replace the broken parts wasn't worth the expense. We purchased another brand that I liked well enough but it wasn't a KitchenAid. So, with the KitchenAid Elite I hope that we have no issues with lubricant leaking and getting into the food in the bowl. If this item fails yet again, I will step away from this product and find another that is more dependable and reliable.
Have already used it and love being able to mix, beat, etc. without holding my old hand mixer for long periods. I was surprised that the color was much darker than I thought it would be. It does look like the picture in very bright light, but my husband thought it was black when he was unpacking it.
Received this product recently, used it once so far and it worked fantastic.
It looks great in our kitchen and we look forward to using it for many years to come.
Cooking.com's purchase process was overall smooth and the shipment arrived a week earlier than they stated.
So far so good! The mixer was a great help with Thanksgiving dinner - nice to have an extra set of hands. I did have trouble getting the bowl off after thefirst time i used it, but otherwise is great.
The KitchenAid stand mixer is by far the best value in its category for the home cook.
My first use of the mixer was making a double batch of chocolate chunk cookies. I was amazed at the speed and power the mixer had creaming the initial ingredients. The choice of speeds adds to the versatility of the mixer. Only downside for me is how heavy it is to move. It's a good thing it's attractive because it has to stay on the counter, no way I could move it each time I want to use it. Cooking.com's price was $100 less than the department store price and that doesn't include the $20 rebate and free magazine subscription that I would not have gotten had I bought it at the store! Overall, I'm delighted with both the mixer and cooking.com
I love my new mixer and it looks absolutely beautiful on my counter!!

Stand mixers can definitely be tough to manuever sometimes, so for easy cleanup and transportation, keep your mixer on a tray or cookie sheet. This will make it easier to move around your countertop, and if you make any mess, you can just wash the tray.
