I've only used the mixer twice and I'm just getting used to it. So far I find it cumbersome and difficult to operate. Overall, I think I prefer my Sunbeam hand mixer. Both times I've used the mixer, it vibrated noticeably and seemed to struggle to mix a batch of chocolate chip cookie dough.

Makes a bit of a humming sound when beating. Not sure whether this is normal - I wouldn't think so.

I am a baker more than a cook. Always making cakes and cookies.

I LOVE COOKING.COM. I DON'T HOLD YOU RESPONSABLE FOR THE LACK OF QUALITY THAT KITCHENAID NOW PUTS INTO THEIR MIXERS.
IN THE PAST IT WAS THE BEST, AND LASTED APPROX. 20 YEARS, AND CARRIED A LIFETIME GUARANTEE. NOW THEY ARE JUST NOT THE SAME QUALITY. I HAVE LET KITCHENAID KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS. I HAVE NO CHOICE, BECAUSE I HAVE 5 BOWLS, AND FOUR BEATERS. THAT IS WHY I KEEP USING THIS MIXER.
I DECORATE CAKES, AND USE THIS PRODUCT FOR ICINGS, AND CAKE MIXES.

I love Kitchenaid Mixers, but this new one is already starting to sound like it's struggling after just a few weeks use (granted, it was heavy use, but my old Kitchenaid has lasted 20+ years!

This one has issues.

difficult to work with the dough/batter while running -- miss the old Sunbeam for that. Powerful which is good, huge in size which is not good. Necessary for the large dough for communion bread recipes I am doing. Did not like the cookbook/directions because they didn't really help you use the mixer. I have made bread, cookies, a nut bread, and a cake but had to adapt, without feeling I had any control, my old recipies. When I used the recipes from your book, I didn't feel like they matched the speeds you suggested in the front of the book.

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

Stand mixers can definitely be tough to manuever sometimes, so for easy cleanup and transportation, keep your mixer on a tray or cookie sheet. This will make it easier to move around your countertop, and if you make any mess, you can just wash the tray.
