I can't believe how poorly these perform!

I am extremely displeased with this purchase. I ordered these attachments for my Kitchen-Aid stand mixer so I could get rid of my old Oster Kitchen Center with similar attachments. I am a long time cook and used the grinder, etc, a lot. I gave the Oster away and bitterly regret it!! The new grinder is difficult to assemble and grinds poorly, slow and inefficient. The housings do not fit snugly and there are gaps in the assembly that allow unground food to squeeze through and out the front, into the food that actually manages to get ground. I used it to grind a small amount of fresh pork for spring rolls and it was a mess! The meat squeezed out the front, not through the blades, and it just did a bad job over all. When I finally got done and disassembled the unit for cleaning, I discovered I had lost several (probably three or four) ounces of the pound or so I was processing. When I tried to shred the cabbage, peppers, onions, etc for the spring rolls, the shredder performed just as badly, with uncut vegetables getting squeezed out the front of the machine, mixing in with the cut items, and the shredder, when disassembled, was just filled with chunks of crushed veggies. The hopper for the shredder will not stay propped open to be filled but must be held open with one hand while you try and fill it with your other hand. I have, sadly, also paid good money for the sausage attachments that go with the meat grinder, but cannot imagine trying to make sausages with this grinder. What a waste of money and of my time. I will now have to go out and purchase a separate meat grinder to do what I need to get done.

Kitchenaid Rotor slicer/shredder accessory

I bought this before the holidays to help with the holiday dinner. It sliced 10 lbs of potatoes in 5 minutes. It sliced 6 lbs of onions for onion soup in about 5 minutes. My kitchen did not smell like onions nor were there many tears. It whirred through the task quickly and effortlessly. I LOVE my mixer and this slicer. In the past, I have used a food processor and the potatoes and onions have jammed and been a nuisance. I have not used the meat grinder at this time.

Definitely a keeper!

I ordered the accessory package with our 5 qt.Pro stand mixer and found that the use for most of the attachments is unlimited for time-saving prep work. Construction is rugged and cleanup is a breeze! The package includes a hard plastic safety feed tool, as opposed to the pictured wooden ads -- but its intended use is not compromised. Through curiousity, I contacted the manufacturer and learned that replacement of wood with plastic is an anti-bacterial issue, especially with raw meets in a warm kitchen. Makes sense to me, plus I don't have to oil the plastic! All-in-all, I'm very satisified with the accessories and the continued good service from Cooking.Com. (and for us wood lovers, I'm sure they will replace the picture).

Kitchen Aid Mixer & Access.

The attachment package adds some very good flexability to the mixer. I really like the salad maker/grater. The only problem I have found is that carrots stain the white plastic on the shredder. Most of the stain comes off with a little extra scrubbing and some good cleaner.

THIS IS EXCELLENT. WE NOW GRIND UP OUR OWN PORK,VEAL AND BEEF FOR MEATLOAF MIXES. WE GRIND UP OUR OWN CHICKEN FOR JUST LIKE THE DELI CHICKEN SALAD AND CHICKEN AND TURKEY BURGERS.
WE'VE HAD NO BOG DOWN PROBLEMS WITH IT AND WE'VE USED IT SEVERAL TIMES.
THE SLICER/SHREDDER HAVE ALSO BEEN A BIG HELP TO ME AS I HAVE ARTHRITIS. NO MORE ACHY WRISTS FROM SLICING OR SHREDDING.
AS FAR AS PRICING, THE BEST WAY TO BUY THIS IS AS A PACKAGE DEAL. IT WILL PAY FOR ITSELF BELIEVE ME IN THE MONEY YOU SAVE AND FAT YOU CAN ELIMINATE IN YOUR MEATS.

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

Stand mixers can definitely be tough to manuever sometimes, so for easy cleanup and transportation, keep your mixer on a tray or cookie sheet. This will make it easier to move around your countertop, and if you make any mess, you can just wash the tray.
