I have bought three of these as Christmas gifts for several people, that's how much I like it. This is a vastly superior way to sharpen knives compared to manual devices. I use good quality knives, but I am a casual chef and I have not experienced different qualities of sharpness. All I can say is that my knives get very sharp with very little effort.

However, I am a bit confused as to what the difference is between the differently priced 3-stage sharpeners is. It is too bad that the product descriptions do not give you any clues.

I've had one for a few years. This one was given as a gift. Chef's Choice makes some models are are more deluxe, but if you don't want to spend over $60 on a sharpener - this does the job. Beats trying to sharpen them by hand.
It takes a little bit of practice to master the sharpening technique, but this really worked wonders on a few older knives that were nearly ruined by another electric sharpener.
The Chef's Choice sharpener was recommended by "Chef's Illustrated" and America's Test Kitchen. It does do a very good job, I now have to be more careful when handling the knives.
A bit difficult to get used to, since I have always used a stone, but seems like I nice shortcut, no pun intended, to get a good edge on a blade...
I have tried various methods to sharpen my knifes with little success. This sharpener is great. I had good quality knifes that I hated because they weren't sharp. Now every knife in my kitchen is a great knife.
After using this sharpener, my knives are sharp enough to do surgery.
It is a bit hard to get used to, but it is worth it.
I live on an island on the ocean in the Mexican Caribbean and salt air plays hell with all metal objects, knives included. I purchased tis item on line and had it shipped to a friend in MN who in turn brought it with him to me. It was my Xmas present to myself. I am delighted with the product, though I seldom get to use it as the edge it puts on my knives lasts so long I have only used it once!

It meets all my needs and I wonder about the people that have given negative reviews. It was idiot proof in my initial use. Even cheap knives were able to cut paper! Highly recommend it and feel badly for the fools that were unable to follow the clear and simple instructions!
sharpened old knives with ease. this is a great product.
It's a little hard to use at first but once I got the hang of it, it worked like a charm and I love having sharp knives again. I want to sharpen every knife I can find!
They are Christmas gifts, so I am unable to rate them at this time.
I sharpened about 20 knives - all in desperate need of help - in about 20 minutes. Very pleased with the results. Even the cheaper knives came away sharper than ever.
Used this sharpener on three knives. All three knives where very hard to get a sharp blade. Used as directed but blade did not follow the sharpening angle.
I was going to buy a new knife set until I saw the prices..Then I decieded to buy the knife sharpener and keep the old set and just sharpen them..They are like brand new!!
did very good job in sharpening. Had small problem keeping the edge of the knife aligned despite the magnet guides.
